Dancing With My Daughter

This is my last week day at home with my little Penny since I go back to work on Monday. I am so thankful for the precious eight weeks I have had at home with her and I am incredibly grateful to the people who made it possible. Seriously. So, thank you. Thank you times a million.

My baby girl sleeps through the night and is a great eater and napper (at least for now). Penny has actually been sleeping through the night since she was about three to four weeks old. Yeah, I'm blessed, I know.

I love our nightly routine. Penny enjoys being rocked to sleep, but not in one of our two brand new, comfortable recliners (she likes being rocked in them for naps, though). She enjoys one of us standing up with her and rocking her back and forth in our arms (or rocking her in the car seat which is a humorous site! Can we say muscles?!). About ten or fifteen minutes before I know she is about to conk out for the night I turn on a little frog music player that projects sweet little stars and plays lullabies. The first lullaby is her favorite and it reminds me of something you would hear in a ballet dance. While I used to belong to a dance company in my younger years, I cannot dance worth a flip. But at night I turn into the ultimate ballerina and I dance my daughter to sleep. I'm sure that sounds silly to some but it is a time I treasure so much. While we are ballet dancing throughout her small room, I pray over her and thank my Savior for her and her birthparents. I did not do anything to deserve being Penny's mom but I sure am grateful that the Lord sees me fit to be her mom. I usually get a little teary-eyed while dancing around with her because 1) I am in awe that the Lord chose us to be the parents of this amazing little girl and 2) I know these moments won't last forever.

I'll try to update sooner than a month's time but I am more busy than I have ever been before.
